I'm going for a bike ride: RAGBRAI

I'll be gone for the next nine days riding RAGBRAI with my son @tgamble. I'm a RAGBRAI virgin and am not sure what to expect. I do know that everyone I have talked with has smiled and had a reaction something like, "You are going to have so much fun!" I'm looking forward to getting started.

I will be tweeting the entire ride and you can follow along @k1v1n. Twitter hashtags for the event are #cyriders and #ragbrai. We have joined a team from Iowa State University and we have our own Web page: Extension Cy-riders on RAGBRAI. Finally, we will be using the tag "cy-riders" to upload photos to Flickr.

The AT&T coverage for Iowa looks to be rather spotty. I certainly won't be taking advantage of the capabilities of my new 3G phone, but heck SMS works almost everywhere. If you want to chat don't hesitate to DM me.

I'm off to the airport to start the journey. Talk to you in a week (if not sooner).

PHOTO: Is from the Des Moines Register. Riders dip their tires in the Missouri River to start, and then repeat the process when reaching the Mississippi.

Are you Kevin Gamble, the Chico and Tujunga transplant?
If you are, you should have no trouble with the Iowa hills after all that practice pumping Hillrose Street to Seven Hills.
