Has Google jumped the shark with Lively?

I'm pretty much a Google fan boy. They own me. But, their release of Lively has to be one of the lamest things I've ever seen. Is it a sign of more bad things to come?

I'm not talking about its basic implementation. Its distributed nature is exactly what you'd expect. It's how Google has been approaching most of their social software, and I suspect in the end for distributed to beat centralized. Just like open will always beat closed. So I'm okay with that.

This, however is totally unacceptable!

In this day and age, with the resources that Google has at their disposal, there is absolutely no excuse to release software that only runs on one platform. I can't remember the last time I wanted to install software that was Windows only. It's been years. For this to come from Google is totally shocking.

Yes, I could easily run this under Windows, but that's not the point. I refuse out of principle.
