Netvibes has an idea

I saw this on Read/Write Web: Netvibes Launches Corporate Startpages - Will Companies Go For It?

Netvibes, the French startpage near the top of the startpage market, is launching a new service this morning called Netvibes Premium Universes. The service allows companies to offer Netvibes functionality (reading feeds, posting widgets) on their own website with their own branding and domain. It's essentially a Netvibes page in an iframe on your website.

Are you kidding me? This is a great idea. Netvibes has found a niche that Facebook won't give a hoot about. It just might work, and they just might survive. I'm ready to pony-up and start playing right now.

Anything web-related involving the word "frame", sucks. Utterly, completely and badly.

I agree with you completely, but you need to remember where this is targeted. It's targeted at the domain of the corporate control-freaks.

I think the whole concept of the homepage is dead. I just see this being a niche and an approach that might work for Netvibes. If I was guessing, they've been asked about this functionality a zillion times, and are trying to respond to market demand.
