Why I watch television news

I am a news junky. There, I said it. I watch television news every day. It works for me as I can multitask while the television is on without a problem. I rarely, however, learn anything new from watching (listening?). When I read this post, The Wisdom Of Crowds: The Blogosphere Usually Knows It Before You Do I realized one of the reasons I watch. I am almost always following some developing story from blog space, and wondering how far the main stream media will be behind the story. Usually it‘s just a day or two but sometimes it‘s weeks.

So I‘m watching television news just so I can evaluate the job they‘re doing? I‘m thinking it‘s just a matter of time before I give up on television news just like I did with analog newspapers. I could be listening to music instead of hearing about John Karr ad nauseam.
